Recognising the present. Informing the future

"The Quoted Companies Alliance recognises the fundamental importance of the role of the non-executive director. It is essential that both aspiring and current non-executives are fully equipped to carry out their roles effectively. Professional qualifications such as that from the Financial Times are a very effective way to complement relevant experience. They provide a comprehensive range of skills and knowledge that are needed to become, and remain, a successful non-executive director."

Why Qualify?

The Certificate is a practical course which covers all aspects of being a non-executive director. It is a formally accredited qualification for non-executives and recognises that being an effective non-executive director requires different skills and knowledge than those needed for a successful executive career.

Completing this course will provide you with the knowledge and tools to be a really effective non-executive director. It will give you peace of mind that you are equipped to deal with any challenges as they arise. It will show to any boards you are looking to join that you are serious about the role and truly understand what is involved.

Passing the Financial Times Non-Executive Director Certificate will give you a real understanding of the role of a non-executive director, of how to deal with the issues which may occur during your tenure as a non-executive and how to make sure that you are fully equipped to face the challenges of this demanding role.

Who is the Certificate for?

  • People who are thinking of making a move into their first non-executive director role, particularly if you do not already have directly relevant board experience.
  • People who have newly been appointed to a board.
  • People who are already non-executives but who seek to refresh their knowledge and skills.
